PROJECTS

Math Teaching

Blended Learning Math Videos

This was my next attempt at creating a more blended learning environment in my classroom. The math content of these videos was created by combining a variety of technological tools such as Screencastify, Smart Notebook, and Youtube. I then uploaded the videos on an online program called PlayPosit which allows users to embed interactive learning elements into video. Not only are these lessons more interactive, but they also double as a way for me to informally assess students' understanding throughout the lesson as students' responses are recorded and able to be reviewed by the teacher.

Blended Learning in 7th Grade

This was the first time (but not the last) that I plunged head-first into converting my instruction to blended learning. I started small by creating a single unit of study for my 7th grade math course. I used Google Sites to create a website that hosts all of the student resources and is connected to Google Classroom via links for assignments throughout the unit.

Brain Eaters Vs. Brain Beaters Digital Breakout EDU

This is an interactive math lesson disguised as a digital zombie escape room. I designed and implemented it in my classes to teach and reinforce 7th and 8th grade geometry standards. The second link is a complete walkthrough for the escape room experience. This tool is designed to help educators implement the breakout. It is not for student eyes.

Africa Meets Africa

This project showcases the redesigning of my Algebra I Unit, Functions. Through the teaching of African beadwork and South African culture, students reached mastery in topics such as functions, linear, quadratic, and exponential growth, restrictions, sequences, and series.

Extra Curricular Teaching

Breakout EDU Intensive

Three times a year, I teach a week long course called an intensive. Intensives are classes outside the norm of the regular school day. My blended learning class focused on allowing 8th grade students to create their own Digital Breakout EDU experiences (escape room) to teach or reinforce math concepts learned in 7th grade math. The links showcase the Google Classroom LMS that I created and used to host the intensive as well as all of the supplementary resources developed and utilized by me.

Instructional Redesign

Online Learning Redesign

Periodically, I have been given assignments to make online content more effective or engaging for student viewers. Here are two examples of coursework that I have redesigned to meet both of these criteria.
