BIOGRAPHY

I live and work in Fort Collins, CO as a middle school math teacher at an amazing expeditionary learning school. Though I graduated with a degree in art education, my journey through the world of education has only ever blessed me with math teaching jobs. I didn't always like teaching math, but through hard work, a lot of struggle, and perseverence over the years I have come to love being a math teacher. This has become even more truthful in my last 9 years teaching at Polaris ELS, because I am free to teach math through an artistic lens, thus providing students with many options to accommodate their unique learning styles.

In 2018 I graduated from CU Denver's Information and Learning Technologies program with an ILT Specialist degree. Over the last several years I have been extremely interested in using technology to transform my classroom and the way that students learn and grow. As a technology enthusiast, I have chosen to partner with my district to mentor other teachers and lead professional development around integrating emerging technologies into a variety of classroom settings. My goal is to become an educational technology facilitator for a school district or college.

In my spare time I love to travel and see new places. My hobby of geocaching has taken me to a lot of new places and expanded my world. When I'm not traveling, I like to spend time with friends and family, play board games and video games, read science fiction, and bake. I am also an artist and enjoy using all types of media (drawing, photogaphy, sculpture, graphic design, etc.) to make art. I especially enjoy the month of October when I can delve into the world of costuming and make-up artistry as another creative outlet.
